CyberArk Ltd. – Protecting Critical Assets While Safeguarding the Planet
CyberArk is the global leader in privileged access management– a critical layer of IT security to protect data, infrastructure, and assets across the enterprise, in the cloud, and throughout the DevOps pipeline. CyberArk delivers the industry’s most complete solution to reduce the risk created by privileged credentials and secrets. The company is trusted by the world’s leading organizations, including more than 50 percent of the Fortune 500, to protect against external attackers and malicious insiders.
CyberArk pioneered the market and remains the leader in securing enterprises against cyberattacks that take cover behind insider privileges to attack and harm critical enterprise assets. Today, only CyberArk delivers a new category of targeted security solutions that help leaders stop reacting to cyber threats and get ahead of them, preventing attack escalation before irreparable business harm is done.
Taking a Stand
As a company, CyberArk made the decision to focus on two main themes that demonstrate their commitment to sustainability:
1. Responsible Corporate Citizenship
2. Sustainability as a Corporate Value
In demonstrating their corporate citizenship, CyberArk’s objectives are to reduce the company’s overall ecological impact, improve the communities they operate in, and educate their employees on sustainable business practices.
From a values perspective, CyberArk desires to show their customers, prospects, investors, and business partners that they are environmentally responsible corporate citizens. The Green Business Bureau green certification platform helps guide them through the process, map out a wide range of sustainability initiative options, and help prioritize future projects that make the most impact.
Employee Engagement Drives Sustainability
One of the key ways that companies get started on their sustainability path is by employees coming together and asking the right questions of management and corporate executives. In the case of CyberArk, Lex Register, a Corporate Development and Strategy associates noticed some gaps in the company’s sustainability practices and offered to help CyberArk make some necessary changes. The result of that effort has been massive employee engagement; nearly 25% of their 200 person US Headquarters in Newton, Massachusetts has joined their Green Team, a group exploring and implementing new tactics to minimize the company’s carbon footprint.
In a 2019 Tech Target article on Employee Activism featuring CyberArk, Lex commented, “when I think about the companies I want to work for, I really want to have pride in everything they do.” CyberArk has set up their green teams across several subgroups along with executive sponsorship and support. Those subgroups, which represent different components of the sustainability framework, are typically managed by junior employees as a way to get them involved with the business and demonstrate some accountability and leadership. Said Lex, “it’s a way for a lot of our junior employees who don’t necessarily have responsibility for managing people to step up.”
As CyberArk continues their sustainability journey, they are committed to improving their existing sustainability policies while staying true to their values and desire to always do the right thing. The company is also motivated from an HR perspective to continue valuing the opinions of employees and listening to ideas that can potentially improve the company. Sustainability initiatives also offer benefits that can improve hiring and retention of top employees and help shape the external lens and perception of the company as not only being leaders in technology, but leaders in corporate culture and citizenship.
